'Smoke on the Water' - (BREAKING NEWS: Weds., 6/11— 8:05p)… The Alameda Fire Department responded to SPN tonight after a small fire broke out in the dumpster bin by the side of the school. Parents finishing up an 8th Grade Parent Meeting were notified by a neighbor across the street that smoke was coming out of the dumpster and an attempt to put out the fire with an extinguisher from inside the school ensued. When that didn't work, the AFD was called in for assistance, who quickly put the fire out. The fire broke out just a little before 8:00p tonight and according to one firefighter, it started because of a smoldering cigarette thrown into the bin.
